This is a Blauberg Freshbox image for the Raspberry Pi, 3 or 4.
Contains: Mosquitto MQTT broker,
Python 3.9, PM2 -prosess manager, 5 licenses for Blauberg Freshbox 100 or 200.
The image is prepared for remote control with SSH and FTP.
All you have to do is download the image (3Gb) from our Ftp server and burn it to a 32Gb(or greater) SD disk.
After you have edited the info in the cfg files you are good to go!
Then you boot your Pi and log on.

DESIGN  MOTORS
Polymer coated metal casing decorated with an acrylic front panel. Heat and noise insulation is ensured by a layer of 10 mm cellular synthetic rubber.
The front panel provides convenient access for filter maintenance and has a lock for extra security.The unit has two Ø 100 mm pipes for fresh air intake and stale air extraction outside. The third Ø 100 mm pipe (included in the scope of delivery) can be additionally fitted to the unit to connect the exhaust air duct from the bathroom.
The units feature efficient electronically commutated (EC) motors with an external rotor and impellers with forward curved blades. These state-of-the-art motors are the most advanced solution in energy efficiency today.
EC motors are characterised with high performance and optimum control across the entire speed range. In addition to that the efficiency of electronically commutated motors reaches very impressive levels of up to 90 %.
AIR DAMPERS HEAT AND ENERGY RECOVERY
The unit is equipped with supply and exhaust air dampers which activate automatically to prevent drafts while the unit is off.

AIR FILTRATION

Supply air cleaning is provided by the G4 and F8 filters. To meet more stringent air purity requirements the F8 filter can be replaced with an H13 or F8 Carbon Filter (purchased separately). Exhaust air is cleaned by the panel filter G4.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE

The cold outdoor air passes through the filters and the heat exchanger and then is delivered to the serviced space by the supply centrifugal fan.
Warm stale air from indoors passes through the filter and the heat exchanger and is discharged outdoors by the centrifugal fan.
The supply and exhaust air flows are fully separated which helps eliminate the possibility of odour or microbial transfer between the streams.

The Freshbox 100 WiFi units are equipped with a counter-flow heat recovery core with a polystyrene core.

  • In the cold season the exhaust air heat is captured and transferred to the supply air stream which reduces the ventilation-generated heat losses.
  • Some condensate may form during heat recovery. The condensate is collected in the drain pan and is removed from the exhaust air duct.
  • In the warm season the intake air heat is transferred to the extract air stream. This allows for a considerable reduction of the supply air temperature which, in turn, reduces the air conditioning load.

The Freshbox 100 ERV WiFi units are equipped with a counter-flow energy recovery core with an enthalpy membrane at the core.

  • In the cold season the exhaust air heat and moisture are transferred to the supply air stream through the enthalpy membrane reducing the heat losses through ventilation.
  • In warm season the heat and humidity of the outdoor air is absorbed by extract air flow through the enthalpy membrane. This way the supply air temperature and humidity decreases and heat recovery reduces operation loads for the air conditioner.


PREHEATING

Freshbox E-100 WiFi, Freshbox E2-100 WiFi units are equipped with an electric preheater for freeze protection of the heat exchanger.

REHEATING

Freshbox E1-100 WiFi, Freshbox E2-100 WiFi units feature an electric reheater to raise the supply air temperature as necessary.

FREEZE PROTECTION

Freshbox 100 WiFi features an exhaust air temperature sensor downstream of the heat exchanger which disables the supply fan to let the warm extract air warm up the heat exchanger. After that the supply fan is turned on and the unit reverts to the normal operation mode.
Overheating protection for Freshbox E-100 WiFi and Freshbox E2-100 WiFi is implemented with a preheater.

CONTROL
The unit is equipped with a control panel.The remote control is supplied as standard.Wi-Fi communication.

Each space requiring ventilation is equipped with one or several Freshbox 100 WiFi units.
A single unit is capable to ensure efficient ventilation in spaces with floor area up to 75 m2.
Freshbox 100 WiFi units can be upgraded with a bathroom exhaust air duct. To enable such a configuration the units can be additionally equipped with the optional ø 100 mm spigot (supplied as standard).

Smart House software for Blauberg Freshbox wifi models

Freshbox2Mqtt and Mqtt2Freshbox monitor and controls BlaubergFreshbox wifi units with the powerful MQTT protocol. A protocol used by most automation systems on the market today. Like for example. Homeseer, Home Assistant, Homey, Fibaro HC3, Node Red, Iobroker and OpenHAB. Compatible with  Blauberg Freshbox 100 and 200 Wifi  units. We have ready monitor and control software to link these fans up against a mqtt broker (server). This means that they can be monitored and controlled individually or in groups from any mqtt client with rights and access to the server. The programs runs on a suitable PC, Mac or Linux device as eg Raspberry Pi. A session must be connected per fan you wish to control. The controller and fan should be in the same network, otherwise it must be routed so that the controller reaches both the fan and the server. The best solution is to have a controller for each wifi network. The controller must be able to run Python 3 and must have installed the MQTT library and the python-six library. The Mqtt broker (server) can be local or public. For example, I use a controller for wifi (raspberry Pi w / several mqtt2fan processes controlled by pm2 (process manager). In addition, I have a controller on a virtual Pi for office wifi and fans. Requires: MQTT Broker (eg Mosquitto). Raspberry Pi or other Linux controller, Mac or PC that can run Python. Wifi network. One license for each unit you wish to control. If you buy one or more Blauberg Freshbox Wifi units you get a 25% discount on the licenses! If you have purchased a license and want more, contact us and we will expand to two or more licenses. Its not possible to use two 1-license modules against one broker. Then you have to have a 1-license module and a 2-license module. etc. Freshbox with app control lacks a number of commands entered this spring software. We can mention ‘fireplace mode’ which ensures that overpressure is formed so that the stove does not switch on during firing. Supply, ventilate, night mode and party mode we have also added. If you have Blauberg vento wifi devices (v1 and v2) with their own software (Mqtt), then you can run all types of fans. That is, if you issue the command blauberg / set / fan / all / combine = s1r then all the fans will switch to speed1 and regeneration! There are a number of commands that are common to the fans. For example, you can make all the fans facing north go into one mode while all facing another direction or on another floor can go in another mode! In the event of a fire in the building, you can have all the fans ventilate and empty the building of air so that the fire is reduced. If you use air quality sensors then you can use these to control the fans so that if the outdoor air is heavily polluted (smoke, gas, etc.) then you can close all the fans on the side of the building in question. And if the indoor air is very bad, all the fans can be run on ventilation while you have a window or a door open, or run 50% of the fans on ventilation and 50% on supply! Freshbox can also then be run at full speed which gives the same effect. And on a hot summer day, you can get cooler air from the shady side of the house from the fans that are there. This will also relieve the AC system and save power. On cold winter days, the ERV models have the heating element that ensures preheating intake air so that the house does not cool down. But even then, the unit helps to relieve the heat pump so that it does not have to run at full capacity. The model for Nordic conditions, Freshbox E2-100 ERV also has a membrane which lets moisture through from the outside air so that the indoor air does not become so dry.
